Can you imagine living in a home thatnever runs out of power? GuangdongProvince has recently announced theofficial launch of the "GuangdongProvincial Work Plan for Promoting theApplication of 'Photovoltaic + Building'in County Areas," marking agroundbreaking initiative to equip 25selected counties (including districts andtowns in Dongguan) with solar-poweredbuildings.
The concept of "Photovoltaic +Building," also known as BuildingIntegrated Photovoltaics (BIPV),integrates photovoltaic systems directlyinto the fabric of buildings, turning theminto sustainable energy generators. Whenphotovoltaic arrays are installed on theexterior surfaces of buildings' envelopes, these structures transform into continuousproducers of green electricity, ensuring areliable supply of power.
This initiative aims to harness solarenergy effectively, enhance the energyefficiency of buildings, and significantlyreduce carbon emissions. By the end ofthis year, the 25 pilot regions areexpected to add a total installed capacityof no less than 1.25 million kW for new"Photovoltaic + Building" projects.
The range of buildings eligible for thisprogram is diverse, encompassing variouspublic facilities, industrial parks, urbanresidential complexes, rural houses, andmunicipal utilities. This comprehensiveapproach ensures that the benefits ofrenewable energy are accessiblethroughout every corner of Guangdong.
